As I mentioned in previous articles about the importance of having a personal brand, having a personal brand is not a priority today and is becoming an expectation from the audience in our field.
Given the rapid growth of the digital world, building and promoting a personal identity can be one of the easiest and best ways to establish our identity in various fields of activity.
The construction and growth of this identity do not depend only on activities in social networks, although many people have been able to influence the lives of many people by working on Instagram and TikTok, thereby validating their brand. But a personal brand is not necessarily based on online activity.
Here are some tips to help you get started:
1- Learn more about the dimensions of your personality.
Do more research on the strengths and weaknesses of your personality and try to know all your characteristics. This can determine your expectations about yourself and your brand. Your brand will be nothing except your own identity.
Building and growing a brand based on a fake identity or something that goes against your inner reality can be destroyed in a second.
The audience cares about your honesty in what you say about your brand, and if the slightest lie is felt in you, the audience will lose confidence in your brand. Creating a personal brand online can easily be untrue, but when the audience feels a little dishonest in you, the brand will fall apart.
To get to know yourself better, you can get help from those around you, there are many psychological tests in this area that can help you in this matter. I have personally tested the MBTI and DISC tests and I trust the results. These two tests were very effective in recognizing my personality dimensions.
2- Define the goal of your personality brand.
Once you have a full understanding of your personality, you need to decide what your brand aims for. Your brand goal should be shaped according to your personality dimensions. If you are an introvert, you cannot shape your brand as a successful leader. Of course, it is possible to change and improve the personality dimensions of each person, but you must have a plan and work to improve it. One of the main principles of building a personal brand is storytelling about yourself, and you need to know where this story will end and what it will be in the end.
3- Identify your audience.
You need to know who is your audience and what they expect from an active person in the field. You need to create value for your target audience and thereby gain their trust.
Knowing these people will make you have a better understanding of your brand and know with what tone and information you can attract the audience to your brand.
4- Identify the key people in your field of activity.
Identifying and following key people in your brand can be very effective in finding your path in brand growth. How did successful people reach a high level of your field of activity? The answer to this question can better and more accurately find your progress path.
5- Invest in your soft skills.
Soft skills are skills that make you fit into society. They include your personality, attitude, flexibility, motivation, and behavior, and morals, which are taught almost nowhere they are learned empirically. In many cases, these skills are measured more than your scientific expertise and skills and more important criterion for job promotion by employers.
Having a good elevator presentation and being ready to present yourself at any time is one of the requirements to introduce your brand to other people. In addition to job dimensions, these skills will affect all aspects of life.
6- Use online personal brand growth platforms.
When we can have a much larger community of audiences with social media, why not use them?
Using social networks and activities in them can have a great impact on brand growth. Many people build their brand solely on these platforms. Influencers are people who generally build their brand on content-driven social networks.
The principle of growth in social networks is based on content and how to grow in it is that as a brand owner, you produce content and attract the audience and try to gain the trust of the audience and make them loyal to your brand. Repeating this process will increase the trust in your brand.
Also, you should not neglect having a website, in previous articles we talked about the importance of a website for personal brand growth, and if you need more information about this, I suggest you check out that article.
7- Be steadfast in the path of your brand growth and always be developing yourself.
Upgrading your personality and soft skills should always be with you as your brand progresses. Your brand should reflect your personality strengths and grow to increase your credibility in your current (or future) job environment. Progress in this direction will be achieved step by step, and growth and development must be at the forefront of all these stages.
Finally, according to one of my friends, your personal brand is what your friends say in your absence about you. You need to consciously identify and cultivate the qualities that you think you need and try to highlight your strengths in the eyes of those around you. Of course, this must be outside of pretense, and it must emerge from honesty and correctness.
